How to Erase Coronavirus Fear
Yes, this may sound like an outrageous thing to suggest right now because you may feel there is every reason to be experiencing daily fear. You may think that the fear is somehow keeping you safe or is a good survival mechanism. Well, I’m here to share with you that fear is making things worse for you. I have a much better suggestion to help get through these challenging times in not only a safer, sounder, and more comfortable way, but in a way that gives you back your power.
What we focus on gets our energy and the power. Do you want to keep giving your power away to the virus or other concerns? Or, do you want to take back your power and create a good outcome for you and your family?
The issue is that fear is the leading cause of stress and increased feelings of stress can throw your body into a fight-or-flight mode that, as I explained last week, limits your ability to think clearly to help you cope with challenges. It also messes with your melatonin, which is your sleep hormone causing you to lose sleep, increases cortisol levels which causes weight gain and increased inflammation, and the worst is that the stress response suppresses your immune system.
Meanwhile, the most important things you need to do is get high-quality rest, because when you sleep your body heals, detoxifies, and supports a strong and healthy immune system. So, fear needs to be erased and you need to get to a place of what I call, “Calm awareness,” during these times to not only survive but to thrive.

The idea here is that I’m NOT telling you, and never will, that all you need to do is think positively. You can’t right now and shouldn’t even try or you are going to make the problem worse. Yes, worse.
Now, positive thinking and mindset are a good foundation usually, but if there is a topic that you are highly concerned about and you try to think a positive thought, then you actually end up putting more focus and energy on the very thing that has you so worried or upset. And, the secret to life is not only about the thoughts that you choose but about the energy that those thoughts generate by how they make you feel.
As I explain in my book, scientific research has proven that everything is energy and that the focus of your thoughts (and I like to clarify that it is truly the energy of the feelings those thoughts create) can influence your reality and the outcome of your life. So then, how can you possibly create better feeling energy during these challenging times of concern and fear? Let me explain.
First, I am not diminishing the concerning nature of all that is happening. It is serious and awareness of what we need to do to stay safe and deal with work challenges is fine. The point here is that your focus, reaction, and attitude must improve to not only help you during this time but to help the world as well. The world needs your positive energy of hope and health.
I like to teach that in order to make what I call the Stressless Success Shift™, all you need to do is learn how to climb a ladder from fear, guilt, shame, anger, and frustration, to get to a place of calm awareness and higher. You can’t just jump from a low rung of a ladder to a high rung in one leap. That’s what trying to conjure positive thoughts attempts to do. You must take it one step at a time as you grab on and have solid footing.
Let’s do it on this current topic to show you how it’s done and to help you erase the Coronavirus fear you are currently experiencing. As I said last week, let’s balance fear with fact because fact is a much better four-letter word that begins with the letter F (than fear that is, ha ha). Laughter is good medicine.
The idea here is that you must deliberately focus on points that feel better than spending all of your time focusing on those that make you feel fearful. Choose ideas that feel somewhat better instead of trying to leap too far too fast.
Possible ideas are:
- You probably have had challenges in the past and you know that they helped you to become stronger and wiser. What good may come of this current challenge?
- The current stats on this pandemic are not even close to what we experience every year around the common flu. The idea here is to gain a level of perspective.
- China is already coming out of the problem and restarting their economy once again, within only a few months.
- Scientists from all over the world are collaborating real-time to discover solutions from existing and new medications and have already found some current medications that are showing great signs of being beneficial.
- Everyone is learning how to practice better hygiene which is going to help us all avoid contracting other illnesses in the future.
- Many people are paying more attention to their health and choosing healthier lifestyle options.
- You may be getting more time to spend at home to get more rest and to get things done around the house that you were unable to do before and many are spending more quality time with family.
- Maybe you are able to take the time on personal development and strengthening your spiritual life.
- Gas prices are lower than ever!
- And, possibly you are taking the opportunity to make plans for establishing financial stability and evaluating investments.
These are just some examples of thoughts that you can choose that feel better than focusing on thoughts that feed fear.
