These smoothies are adapted from Shanti Devi Michal, who is a raw chef from New York who performed a raw food demonstration that I attended back in 2005. I met one of my closest friends at this demo who has become a lifelong friend. The first one here is my favorite!

Blueberry Banana Protein Smoothie

  • 1 cup of frozen or fresh bananas
  • 1 cup of frozen wild blueberries
  • 1 T spirulina
  • 1 tsp maca (optional)
  • ½ cup hemp seeds
  • 1 – 2 T cacao nibs or powder
  • ½ vanilla stick or ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Squeeze of lemon
  • Water from one young Thai coconut (optional)
  • Fill the rest of the blender with water

Strawberry Peach Maca Smoothie

  • 2 cups of frozen strawberries
  • 2 cups of frozen peaches
  • 1 cup of young coconut meat, cashews or pine nuts
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 T maca
  • 3 tsp cacao nibs or powder
  • 3 drops of vanilla extract
  • 2 – 4 T agave nectar (or banana or dates to sweeten)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Water
