Are you feeling like your pot of gold at the end of the long curved rainbow will never be found and therefore never be in your grasp?

Are you giving up hope on achieving certain goals and thus feeling that happiness and fulfillment will never be your reality?

I’m here to tell you not to give up and instead I will teach you a better way to strive toward your goals so that your probability of achieving them is dramatically improved.

You have goals and desires because you think that once you have that new job, more money, the new house, car and new relationship that then you will be happy.  We actually set goals and develop dreams because we believe that achieving them will bring us some level of joy and fulfillment.  I’m not disagreeing with this at all and certainly not wanting to dissuade you from setting goals.  But I am here to tell you that you have the order of things all wrong in your head and once we adjust your thinking, not only will you achieve happiness but you will also achieve your goals.  Yes, you will.  And this is what we think of as stress-free success.

I know you set goals because you believe that achieving them will make you happy and fulfilled.  I always take my clients and workshop attendees through a process of listing their goals and asking why they want to achieve them.  I do this until we get to the core feeling place because this is the essence of what we are actually after.

For example they say, “I want a new house.” So I say, “ Why?”

“Because I want more space for my family and be in a better neighborhood”, they describe. Ok, I say “Why?”

“Because it will bring us a feeling of space and comfort and safety,” they conclude.  I say, “Ah ha!”

It’s a feeling that you want, and you believe that goal will make it easier for you to feel freedom, comfort, joy and contentment.

The problem is that if you are miserable while you strive and struggle to achieve these things, you block them from actually happening. You get stressed out by working so hard that you not only impact your emotional wellbeing but you wreck your physical health too.  How well are you going to be able to enjoy your new home if you are sick and tired? You’re not.  But the real truth is that the home will not come or will take much longer to be achieved through stress and struggle.  You actually must improve your state of happiness and fulfillment for where you are now first, and things that you want to accomplish (and more) will come to you easily.

The cornerstone of achieving your goals and thus a successful life is based on your level of joy and fulfillment, not the other way around. You must develop skills at maintaining a sense of mental, emotional and physical wellbeing and positivity while you work toward your goals, no matter what.  You believe that you can’t control what others do or say or the things that happen around you, and so you allow your thoughts and emotions to be dictated by others. You do, however, have complete control over the thoughts you choose and the feelings that you feel and this has a direct impact on what actually does happen around you.  Now this is very empowering.

The problem is that happiness is elusive for many. In today’s world, everyone lives at a level of stress, fear, and anxiety that destroys the quality of their work, their relationships, and their health. People keep striving and struggling only to be left feeling stuck and frustrated because they can’t seem to figure out how to reach the levels in life they long for. When you stress and struggle, you block solutions and opportunities from coming your way.

I speak often on how to combat today’s pervasive negativity and develop a mindset of consistent and sustainable passion and positivity. When you learn to live at an uplifted level of hope and positive anticipation, then more good things flow into your life that help you to move more quickly along your path to success.  Did you ever notice how when you’re in the zone that helpful people and hopeful opportunities seem to appear in your life? This is no coincidence.  Winning athletes and highly creative people do this all of the time, and the research has shown that so do the world’s most accomplished people. When you’re in a high-energy positive zone, you’re actually open to allow good things to appear into your life.

To do this, it is important to have practices and habits in place to continuously nurture positive energy and enthusiasm.  What are some things that you do that take you to your place of positivity?  Do you love to go to bed early and get snug in bed so that you wake up feeling rested and peaceful?  Do you love to say a few prayers or meditate in the morning and then set good intentions for a great and productive day?  Do you love to sing your favorite tune in the shower and dance your way through the kitchen while making breakfast for you and the kids?  Does this all sound too outrageous?  Well, I think living a life of exhaustion, boredom and misery is what is truly outrageous when it is actually simple to choose otherwise.

Ok, I’m having fun with you here but doesn’t it feel good to smile?  The truth is I’m not really joking at all and what I described above is exactly how I choose to start my day.  And, when I do start my day this way, the rest of the day goes better than ever. I’m more productive because I feel happy, clear and energized and often wonderful, sometimes miraculous, things happen that take me further down my path toward success.

You know intuitively that there is truth to what I am telling you.  You know the days when you get up and stub your toe on the bedpost that things go downhill from there.  You say, as the day goes on, that you should have stayed in bed today or that you “got up on the wrong side of the bed.”  This is not just coincidence; it is reality.  Because as soon as you stub your toe you begin a downward spiral of thoughts that become more and more negative until you find yourself kicking the dog, grumbling at your spouse, having road rage on your way to work only to find out that your largest client canceled their contract.  What you may not want to hear is that you created this by allowing your energy and positivity to go down the drain.

If instead, you could deliberately and intentionally repeat to yourself positive thoughts about your day before you even get out of bed, not only will it be less likely that you stub your toe but if you do, you will be more inclined to laugh at yourself and tell yourself, “I’m glad I got anything unpleasant out of the way first thing so that the rest of my day can be amazing.”  Then you smile.  Before you know it, your kissing your dog and your spouse (not necessarily in that order) and you enjoy your favorite music in the car on your way to work whether the traffic is heavy or not.  By the time you get to work, even if your biggest client calls to say that they are thinking of canceling the contract, you are so energized with positivity and your thinking is so crystal clear that you come up with a solution or an added benefit to offer that saves the deal.

Use triggers to tell yourself, as you walk through your office door, that today is going to be amazing. Using the power of your imagination is another strategy that has a similar and powerful affect.  If you could imagine that your goals are already realized and get the feeling as if they already are, then you begin to experience that good feeling that you are actually hoping to have once you achieve your goals. This requires that you develop a skill of incredible focused imagination, but it takes you to that place of positivity, which increases your chances of success.

So now what is your true goal?  The main goal that everyone must set before all others is to cultivate elevated thoughts and emotions no matter what.  You must develop happiness habits that get you to your place of positivity and sustains you there as often as possible.  By doing this, not only will you experience less stress, but you will also experience more success, and thus the title of my new soon to be released book, “Stressless Success.”
